The testimony of Pastor Kongphob Phrakunoobprathum and the reason he decided to serve God.
My name is Kongphop, and I am 53 years old. I was born into a Muslim family, and I never thought that one day I would become a child of God or a Christian. I decided to accept Christ into my life in September of 2000, and decided to serve the Lord since March 23rd, 2003.
I believed in God because I went through a crisis in my life. I was struggling with many problems at the time, but God loved me so much that he allowed me to hear the Gospel from a group of Christians. After a short time, I decided to believe in God. I received a lot of love and help, including prayers from my brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. However, I had some burdens to manage and I did not know what to do. At that time, I prayed “God, you are the only one who can help me through my troubles", so I left this problem with God. I dedicated myself to serving God at a church in Buriram Province. During the first 9 months, I was not supported by anyone. I started the church with only 3 elders and 70 baht tithe in the very first week. This shook my faith, but God made me cry when He said, "When we serve him, He will take care of us." He really did take care of me. I served the Lord there for almost 3 years.
After that, I married Patamonporn Khumtim. I was invited by Pastor Manoonsak Kamonmatayakul to pioneer a Protestant church in Samut Songkhram province. In Samut Songkhram, there were no churches. I felt quite scared and I wanted to gain affirmation from God. I wanted to hear what God had said to Joshua, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” [Josh. 1: 9] Although I didn't hear the same words God spoke to Joshua, God gave me a new word. God spoke these words to me, "When you start, I will join"
This statement gave me confidence in my faith. I decided to pioneer the church in Samut Songkhram Province, which started on June 1st, 2005. This is still in existence and has been around for over 10 years. This church has also been supporting itself for over 7 years.
The leaders and church members understand my intentions are to serve God and are aware that I don’t receive a salary from the church. I am pleased to receive gifts and offerings from the members, as well as my brothers and sisters in Christ. This allows me to pass my faith on to the next generation, in teaching them that, "When we serve him He will look after us". Currently, I am a part of Alliance Church Association under The Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand.
